Accomplishments
I am proud of my accomplishments over the past two years on the Metro Council, and I’m honored for the opportunity to once again ask for your vote in my reelection campaign. My tenure representing District 6 on the Metro Council has been guided by an unwavering commitment to provide progressive representation to my diverse constituents while also prioritizing government accountability and fiscal responsibility. I’m honored to be part of a Metro Council that is prioritizing addressing our regional needs in issues like housing, homelessness and transportation while also being cognizant of our existing tax burden.
Improving Quality of Life:
- Co-chaired committee working to plan FX Bus Service to 82nd Ave to greatly improve transit, including working with state legislature to create a $5 million land banking fund to mitigant impacts of gentrification and displacement.
- Supported allocation of tens of millions of dollars in resources for catalytic community envisioned projects at the OMSI District, Center for Tribal Nations, Albina Vision Trust, and WIllamette Cove. These projects will be major economic drivers and revitalize the East side of our downtown waterfront.
- Worked to pass the 2022 parks and nature levy to secure public access and conservation of our 18,000 acres of green space.
- Oversaw passage of Regional Transportation Plan, with support from regional environmental justice leaders, business advocates, and community-based organizations.
Representing the community while holding government accountable:
- Guided implementation of the affordable housing measure, exceeding our production goals set by voters. The 2018 housing bond is set to produce 4,700 new affordable housing units, 20% more than the 3,900 units originally planned.
- Held counties accountable through a corrective plan to ensure they are spending their share of Metro’s Supportive Housing Measure to address our region’s houselessness crisis.
- Reduced tax burden on local businesses, putting Metro-based businesses on a more competitive edge against out-of-state companies and aligning our business taxes with the state of Oregon’s.
